Studio One 1.5 Release Candidate
Published on 2010-04-01

We just issued the first Release Candidate of Studio One 1.5 to our BETA testers for heavy real-world testing. We expect to ship the final version in a couple of week, as soon as the German translation and the additonal content has been finalized.

So, what's new in 1.5? There has been a press release already, describing most of the new features. This blog basically intends to give some additional information from Engineering perspective. On the Mac OS platform we made the transition from Carbon to Cocoa, which enables Studio One to run as native 64 bit application on your Apple machine.

The most beloved highlight by our marketing department is definitely the video integration via QuickTime. Unfortunately, there is no QuickTime SDK available yet for Windows x64. Same applies to the new REX file support. Propellerhead Software did not release a 64 bit-capable SDK either.

Some extra candy for our networked users comes with the SoundCloud integration. A dedicated window lets you add and tag songs for direct upload to your SoundCloud account. This website and their excellent SDK and Engineering support is a great example of how open web technologies enable innovative solutions.
